Montpelier ~ home of President James Madison

Another day and another presidential birthday… Happy 266th Birthday President James Madison (born 1751 Port Conway Virginia). Madison was one of the key drafters of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights, he became our 4th president in 1809. He is considered the “father” of our US Constitution.

Montpelier (featured in the photo) is just a short ride from Jefferson’s home, Monticello – Madison’s house, “Montpelier, is a monument to Madison, a museum of American History, and a center for constitutional education that engages the public with the enduring legacy of Madison’s most powerful idea: government by the people.” (www.montpelier.org)

James Madison, Jr., was an American statesman and Founding Father who served as the fourth President of the United States from 1809 to 1817.
